It seems like people are just crazy rude these days, and it has gotten worse over time. I'm not sure that Covid was the cause, though that might have contributed. I've thought maybe the cause is reality TV, people watch that junk and emulate the idiots on those shows. Or it could be social media, people will say wild stuff to each other and some of that carries over into confrontations in real life.
I think you're right, across the board. And it's a sad thing. We should be kinder to each other.
"Be excellent to each other."
I have noticed it, too. I've been saying this, too. People just look at me funny and some have said it was over along time ago, but as you said, they are lacking common sense now.
Oh, you’re not overreacting at all. Ever since COVID, it’s like people think "the customer is always right" means "the rules don’t apply to me." smh
There are a lot of people that don't believe that rules should apply to them. I saw that before And afterthought pandemic almost equally. A little side step that I have observed is that fewer people are looking into the return policies at the establishments where they are shopping. The larger the purchase, the closer you need to look at a return policy BEFORE you buy.
It's bc you are the "face" of the company. They think by speaking to you, you're going to go pass that along immediately to management. They can't just go speak to the CEO, and since you're the one there they are going to voice those complaints. Just empathize, make them feel like that did something, and then let them move along and go about their day. Yes, it would make your life easier if they didn't, but people also work harder for less buying power now, so they are attached to their money and want it to go places that appreciate their business.
