I’ve asked that specific question. You called me. I didn’t call you.
Then they go into why they called. And then I ask how much…
Spray and pray for a response?
Gotta love when it's very obvious they just use a template and change the names. I've even seen a few where they didn't change the names.
This ☝🏻
I had a recruiter say I'd fit his warehouse manager role well when I work in tech consulting
Critical hit.
OP it’s a template recruiters send everyone lol, I’ve got email saying I fit a role and that had nothing to do with my skill set
My favorite is this!!!
Recruiter: “Can you send me your resume?”
Me: “Sure” (send PDF of resume)
Recruiter: “I need this in word format to submit to client I’m working with”
Me: “Uh that’s odd but ok” (send resume file in word)
Get the interview and go in for the interview
Interviewer: “We noticed some typos on your resume”
Me: “Oh, thank you for letting me know could you show me where please?”
Interviewer: “here and here” pulls out a copy of my resume to show me the errors
Me: “Oh I see. I’m very sorry, but this resume was altered by the recruiter you’re working with and it seems she made some typos! Here is a clean version of MY resume” Pull a copy of unaltered resume from my notebook.
Interviewer is impressed and I land the job. Lesson learned on recruiters.
Rising Star
Had a third party recruiter reach out for a role at Accenture. I said sure…at the time I had 3 YOE in consulting.
Get a call from an actual Accenture recruiter in the group…”hey we love your resume but it looks like you applied for Senior Strategy Manager…can you walk me through your thought process?”
Recruiter stupidly applied on my behalf for a role for which I was no where near qualified. Accenture recruiter laughed and said “yeah I figured as much” ended up getting an offer as a consultant lmao.
This is funny because it just happened to me yesterday. They reached out to me on a role, and then when I said I was potentially interested, they asked for my CV, then, “How many years of experience do you have in x role?” 🙄
“Hey, based on your extensive experience, you’re a great fit for this Manager/Senior Manager role”
but also
“How many YOE do you have again? Oh you only have 3 and no MBA? Woah sorry, we don’t do that here”
Do you expect a recruiter that reaches out/talks to dozens of candidates a day to remember you?
It is enough if they check your CV 5mins before the call. There is a reason why CV is 1 page 😶
I hate recruiters.
I can only hope they do this as they want to make sure you are able to answer this question in the actual interview
