@P1 when you mention the word "firm" it traditionally represents a professional services organization (law/consulting/advertising). When you broadly speak about industry, you talk about companies and not firms. Nobody calls FedEx or Amazon a firm.
Across my own experience and that of others...but totally depends on industry as well I suppose

Depends on role. I was just talking to a recruiter they were offering 250 to 300 all in for a director of strategy role in one of the largest privately held firms in the country

D money does not apply in industry.Also, D titles are way lower than anywhere. Can't compare by title.
$165k sounds low for a Director in industry. That's more like SM money in industry. I'd push for more. That said, the bonus % feels about right for Dir. in industry.
^ banking titles are dog $hit! Everyone wants a title because they want to feel important and get over paid.

That's more like VP money in most firms from what I've seen, very high for a director. Never seen higher than $225k for non senior director.
@OP the word director means different things depending on Industry as others might be alluding to. What industry are you exiting to? And is it a BU role or Corporate role?
Directors I work with in industry are in 170-185k range
Was offered a VP position at a bank. Was 190k 3 years ago. @OP this is low.
OP, the company I spoke about earlier seems to be the same, run by Koch brothers. My conversation was for 250 to 300, I'm not going forward with it for other reasons but definitely ask for more

@K2 - He said 160 + 35% bonus...which is $215k all in. That's basically what a CTL makes at Bain (excluding profit sharing)
