No. The biggest differences are in preparation.

lol McKinsey never asks that question anymore and explicitly says that we will not in recruiting presentations.
No. I usually find the recruiting teams do a good job of slotting in candidates who have a good chance of succeeding regardless of pathway (lateral, undergrad, MBA, ADC, etc). That screening encompasses experience and education.
M7 candidates are typically better than rest of the tier2 and tier 3 school candidates
Not really. What I do notice is that PhDs and lateral experienced candidates interview badly in the same ways.
@A2 the common trip ups manifest - I think - as a bunch of symptoms of never having had to solve an ambiguous problem in real time, while being closely watched.
Experienced hires have been doing their job for years, and don’t usually face the scrutiny we typically do by a Project Leader. Likewise, my friends in academia, while they DO face scrutiny, they have thousands of hours of time to research and prepare for that scrutiny, and are deep subject matter experts. Whereas, a case interview asks you to solve a random problem which isn’t testing for expertise.
The biggest thing i look for is structured logical thought. Have seen BAs out of undergrad knock it out of the park, and experienced candidates suck at it.
I am a guy with 6 years pre-mba, so value experience myself; however if i had to pick between a very structured logical inexperienced person vs a poorly structured, experienced hire, i always choose the former.
