Genuine question - if you're showing up prepared and presenting yourself well, how do you think they would be picking up on your neurodivergence? I'm not trying to discredit your query by any means, I'm truly curious.
Everyone presents differently of course and my ADHD is evident in my conversation style - it sounds cliché, but it truly comes down to finding somewhere you don't just feel like you fit, but rather that you belong. I have a big personality, I am well aware of that, but finding somewhere you can be your authentic self without having to shrink to fit in will be well worth the wait. I remember being on the other side of the interview table, and now that I'm thrown into situations as the interviewer, I'm able to focus on what those candidates bring to the table, rather than what they don't. Your time will come, and you shouldn't have to mask for it to happen.
Not sure if hiring managers don’t select me due to me seeming off or something because of audhd, which could be only shows in person and not on video calls.
Or if it’s because I’m slightly overweight and a woman.
I’m tired of spending so much energy preparing and taking time off to interview for nothing. I’m exhausted and burnt out in current role, and feel so stuck. So any tips for interviewing and masking better would be so so appreciated!!
If you have any PTO at your current job, maybe take an extra day before the next in-person to destress. Honestly, the way you wrote this oozes with “I need a break!”
I rarely make it past the initial phone screening even it went well. I follow up and never hear back :(
