For women in US who had babies after 35+ what was your ultrasound schedule like ?

I was 36 with my second. I think I had 2 or 3 extra ultrasounds in the third trimester. Otherwise things were similar. I was also high blood pressure so I had weekly non-stress tests in 3rd trimester

helpful

After the 18-20w scan with MFM, when was your next actual scan & not just doppler check with OB App?

One extra one at 32 weeks? Just comparing to my under 35 y-o friends. I was 35+ for both my pregnancies and I’m a fertility patient. Besides the fertility appts, once I “graduated” and heard the heartbeat, not too much different from other pregnancies.
If all is normal, there’s not much that’s different in a 35+ pregnancy than a non geriatric one. Except genetic testing is covered at 12 weeks.

helpful

Nope. No scan during that time frame if all is fine.
And regular scans later on could just be a Doppler checking on the heartbeat at each visit or a really rudimentary scan that visually shows the heartbeat (I had first version first pregnancy, second version second pregnancy). So these are not really “scans” like the anatomy scan.

I had tons of ultrasounds (weekly or biweekly) at 35 because my NIPT showed a high (99.9%) risk of a serious chromosomal anomaly. The baby was born completely healthy

like

First at 34, second at 36, had the same set of scans..

In room US at 10 weeks to confirm
First scan at 12 weeks
Anatomy scan at 20 weeks
Growth scan at 36 weeks - first pregnancy I got this since I had Covid in 2nd tri so it was not routine

No separate MFM

I was pregnant at 42 and diabetic, so considered more high risk. I had lots of ultrasounds. I think like 6-7 extra in addition to the anatomy scan and I had an extra heart scan.

A lot of ultra sounds (37) but I didn’t mind it bc I was an anxious mom.

They did them literally every other visit- like a quick heartbeat check though. Probably wanted to bill as much as possible

I liked seeing him though. I was 37 when I gave birth

35 here and my schedule has been 12, 20 and 36 weeks. I had to really ask nicely for the 36 week one because it’s apparently not standard at my hospital.

High risk for both of my babies - first at 34, second at 37. I had ultrasounds every few weeks. 6 weeks, 8 weeks and 10 weeks with my fertility clinic, then once a month with MFM until my last trimester where they switched to 2x a month. My last month was 1x a week.

I didn’t have any extra ones because of my age. I think I got them at 8, 12, 16, and 20? And then a quick one at 36? to confirm head down.

Lots of scans

First at 5 weeks
7 weeks
12 weeks
18 weeks
21 weeks- anatomy
25 weeks - echo
Next one is at 29 weeks
Will have at least one growth scan or maybe two

No complications so far, weight gain is reasonable but 40 with first baby

Trying to set family expectations and would love thoughts on 2 things. 1. How long after baby will I be ready for visitors beyond our parents? I’m thinking a few weeks. 2. Can’t predict the future but family is already talking about trips and I want to set expectations and do what is best for baby. TIA!!

Hi everyone,
So I had my NIPT and NT scans last week and I’ve been getting pieces of the results back from my doctor in the patient portal. All seems okay but I’m a bit confused. Does anyone know if FirstScreen is the same thing as NIPT? I was under the impression that NIPT was in 90th percent of certainty for Down syndrome but the result we got, labeled FirstScreen indicate 83% certainty so I’m confused if there are more results coming? I messaged the doctor but haven’t heard back yet.

Misled on Maternity Leave Policy. I found out I only get 4 weeks pay for maternity leave (STD +“sick days”). I will take 12 weeks but wont get paid for 8 weeks. I work for a US, west coast based company in the tech/VC industry. Their website claims to offer “paid parental leave and other progressive benefits for parents”. I didn’t find out until after I was hired their pay was only 8 weeks but since I have been at the company less than 12 months, I don’t qualify for their policy. Is this unfair?

I just started a new job 2 months ago, benefits and PTO don’t start until 90 days in so I still have a month before I can take off any time, and today found out my company doesn’t offer paid maternity leave.
I’m really struggling handling the symptoms and maintaining my full time job. Thinking about looking for a part time job to have more time to myself through the pregnancy since I won’t be getting a paid leave anyways, but lost on where to start looking. Any recommendations?

How did you tell your manager you’re pregnant? Did it affect pay/promos? And then, subsequently, how did you start letting colleagues know you’re pregnant? Feels awkward to just randomly drop the news in a meeting! I work remotely so it’s hard to tell by video :) I’m 21 weeks and feel like I’ve waited as long as I can to at least notify my manager. I was waiting to negotiate my salary for next year but per company trend that doesn’t get set until January (manager reviews are written in Dec).
