You need to treat active job hunting as a full time job. Clicking on linkedin job posts doesn’t work, you need a structured plan, companies target list and a reach out list (on your network). Certainly there is demand for core bank architect, you just need to talk to the right people.
My 2 cents (an I’m currently working on exit, so I’m working this way):
- Get your value prop right. What are your spikes and what/who would they ve valuable for
- Make a list of industries and companies that would value what you have to offer (and hopefully you would also like to work for them)
- Also make a list of headhunters that work with that industry
- Run that list against your network and check who do you know inside those places. And it does not need to be a great friend, just an acquaintance on LinkedIn increase the odds that he/she will reply back to you
- Then get the not-so warm network but that will have something in common with you (Your current company alumni, your university alumni, church group, whatever)
- You then start to work methodically on that list and reach out to those people, but you don’t reach out asking for a job or a referral, you ask for insights on your job search:
>if your target industries/companies are right
>if he/she think your profile would be desirable to them
>if your CV is good for those who hire you
>if he/she thinks there is someone you should/could talk to get more valuable insights…
By doing that you will jump from person to person and increase your “contact surface” so more people will get to know you, know you are searching, and might proactively refer you to positions and/or key people when they cross paths with them.
I think you should expect your search to take anywhere between 4-8 months depending on how actively you are searching.
Try to see if you can pick up some part time role in the evenings or on the weekend assuming it won't interfere with your UE to reduce burn rate
In this market, you are realistically looking at a 6+ months search and more if you are more senior, unless you know someone or has a niche & in demand skillsets. The job market has NOT been good since late 2023 and is not getting any better soon. Took me 7 months to land a contract role last year.
