I’d wait until I got through my first trimester to tell anyone at work
Tell HR first
You should tell HR or a creative resource manager as soon as it’s a viable pregnancy bc then you’ll be protected under the FMLA Act. You’ll be protected by law. Also any appointments you need to miss work for or days you feel sick and want to wfh or need to leave early etc are covering your ass.
Also I would note. If it were me, I’d tell HR and then wait to tell my team. I think there will be a certain point where it makes sense to tell and you kind of have to lol. But who knows with projects what you could or couldn’t be put on. For instance if they’re expecting you to be out in x months you might not get an opportunity or if there’s something production related that could affect it. In an ideal world you shouldn’t think like this, but just something to think about.
Tell HR!
HR should come first then you can tell your team. You need to tell HR to be protected by law
Look into FMLA details because for most of the country, it only protects you if you are at a company of a certain size and have been employees with the same company for 12+ consecutive months. Some states have additional protections- CA, NY, and maybe a couple others I’m not aware of. Also congrats mama!! (And F them if they judge you - it’s your life)
