If you're hourly, you're getting paid for hours worked. I would say that is adequate.
If you’re hourly, they won’t work you till midnight. This is the abuse of the salaried workforce

Your payment is your paycheck as you agreed to these hours when you accepted the job. Anything extra is just an attempted bribe to make you stay instead of leaving to another employer.

More seriously, if you're working more hours than you're contracted for on a fixed salary with no overtime or unsocial hours uplifts, I'd find somewhere more appreciative of your efforts to go work for. I worked at a tech start-up and was always promised jam tomorrow, but it never materialised.
