My partner is a cancer survivor, and I brought her in to talk to my kids. I had her stay for one of our GSA meetings and did something I have never done before--I answered questions about our journey together. It felt very liberating, but still scary.

I work with a classroom of Middle School ED students. One student, who I worked with the year before, has changed alot over the year. Last year (pre COVID), she had a good head on her shoulders and I thought I had good rapor with her. But over that period of isolation, she tried to commit suicide.

All year, she was much more withdrawn and ALWAYS on her phone! At the end of the I was 'beat up by her - she really knocked my glasses off.

Am I going crazy? I feel like my close friend is always trying to “one up” me in conversation. Any time I make a point, they will go out of their way to prove I’m wrong with some sort of stat or evidence. It’s like they need to have the last say.

They try to make me look bad at times without noticing. I don’t know how to approach this as we are all in a pretty tight friend group.

It’s really frustrating when you get staffed on a project for your “industry expertise”, yet the manager with 0 industry experience, continues to ignore your suggestions.

How do you handle these situations without coming across as combative? There is always rework and my original suggestions are eventually considered after several deliverable reviews & revisions.

I’ve built a good rapport with the client and sometimes I just want to tell them of the situation 😔

Any advice on how to handle an ECD in charge of your salary who says the only way to get a promotion or even a COL raise of any kind is through winning an award? It’s hard to be motivated when rounds of layoffs happen and you see all your friends leave. But one thing that’s gotten me through all of this is working out. And when I say workout I mean the most pathetic, sad, barely completed beginner-level cardio dance routines. I’ve somehow forced myself to move while on lockdown and it’s somehow forced me to feel better.
