Hi everyone, I’m in a medium size consulting firm started working since Oct 2021. I’m wondering is it good to jump to industry for my next move or move up in the consulting world to polish my resume better with MBB or Big 4 in my resume… any thoughts? I really don’t know what to do in life so either one works for me, but I’m just lost.

Which would you rather? Internal at MBB or client-facing at Big 4/ACN?

Hi everyone, I'm new to Canada and want to start my career here in the Financial and Banking industry. I have passed the CFA level 2 exam and was wondering if I have to complete the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) as most of the job postings here mention about it. I saw that if someone passes at least the CFA level 1 exam then the requirement of CSC is exempted. Can anyone enlighten me about this? As the CSC exam costs above 1000 CAD, I wanted to be sure if I need it before investing behind it.

Do you all see a compelling future in your tax career? I’ll go first, I don’t see a compelling future working for a large PA firm in the long run because you have to work more as you move up. Tl/Dr. If you couldn't get hired as a cloud engineer or cloud consultant - you probably can't become a PM

Hadn’t noticed this sub before, and most of the threads are old so thought I’d ask a follow up - how has everyone been handling parenting with public accounting? I’ve got a toddler and my wife is an accountant (industry), and we only have a few immediate family in the country- but they have health concerns. Busy season was rough, things are looking better now as things return to normal. Still working crazy hours if you count the daycare duties on top of utilization targets.

How is everyone’s social life? Especially people who moved to New York during the pandemic.

FAR on Saturday - Absolutely terrified. I feel like there’s so much I don’t know how to do and idk how to handle not knowing everything.

With social security potentially running out, why couldn’t it be an option for the govt to put $5k for every baby that is born in a year into an account Invested in a govt share class S&P 500 fund. Historical average is 10%+, which would provide roughly $2.7 million for a baby born today. Eventually, this would eliminate the need for soc sec tax, and would only cost $18 Billion a year instead of several trillion a year being deposited into the trust.

In the last PDM town hall, they said they were going to lower utilization targets for those that work on projects with capped hours. For those people, have you seen your utilization target lowered? I haven’t seen shit change for me.

Switching from PDM 2 to SpM, should I expect a pay adjustment?

Have any PDMs gone to DU? I know it’s not standard, but have any exceptions been made?

How does company phone eligibility work within PDM? Based on level, need, or no-go across the entire delivery model?

What other performance factors are considered for PDM besides utilization?

It's day 2 for me at Deloitte (PDM) , just received my laptop yesterday , completed a few of the trainings and created/uploaded my resume. Coach and onboarding advisor have not been assigned yet. When do I get assigned to a project? What does that process look like ? How long does this orientation go on for ? And do I have to transfer all my stocks from robinhood to one of their approved brokerages?

What’s the average project delivery specialist compensation in GPS like?

I'm in the middle of a background check with Deloitte for a Project Delivery role. In the background check application I listed my previous employers - Cognizant/Teksystems etc but my resume only had the client names I worked at . Does this pose a problem if Deloitte HR compares my resume to the background check form ? Also my title within cognizant might have been an associate but my resume mentions the designation for the client. Is this a reason for concern? Will they ask me to justify it ?

Deloitte onboarding E-mail says , it background verification is not complete by target start date , they can postpone the date last minute.
I have 14th march as a start date and I don’t know my background verification status.
I emailed BIONBoarding but no response.
How am I supposed to give notice to my current employer without knowing BGC status ?
Please advise if someone faced this situation.
(P.S. I don’t have any record, just being cautious because I am on H1B/work visa)

Can you help explain why a team would be able to afford hiring an individual under PDM at a higher salary but unable to offer the same package under the Traditional route?

For context, I’m currently negotiating for a role and have expressed some of my concerns. My recruiter has been very helpful, but I’d like to better understand the reasoning before making my decision. The offer is $100k for PDM, but $85k max if brought on as Traditional.

Anyone have insight on the PDM Town Hall yesterday?

My project client location in Denver started in person mandatory days. Few of colleagues started to go there. I’m confused as I was hired as PDM and I live in east coast and project is in west coast. My leadership is not forcing me anything and they left it to us but I don’t want to lose job because I’m not traveling. Any suggestions?

What are the requirements to promote from analyst to senior analyst? I’ve been with Deloitte for two years now and am wondering how I go about making myself promotable. I don’t have a CPA, CFE, etc. Is one of those required?

PDM specialist at 96k. I have an option to select PDM Specialist 2 or PDM Manager for my promotion with the PPMD. Which one is advisable to prefer Pay wise? I am thinking to take PDM 2 to increase my base pay for the manager.
