Of course it’s your right to choose whether or not to vote, but on a very practical level if you really care about those things and if you choose not to vote for Biden you are essentially voting for Trump. Just like all the people who voted for Obama but not Hillary.
A lot of democrats like AOC. The Washington post did a piece saying that AOC’s “pragmatism” would be a huge asset to democrats.
They started the article “AOC looks like a radical. She’s really a pragmatist.”
I will concede that there are also plenty of democrats that are critical of her. That is part of my point. The democratic platform is two different beasts right now. But when you’re voting for an ENTIRE platform, you’re voting in that second beast.
The Republican platform is split into different beasts as well.
Honestly the center-right and center-left people just need to shake hands and form a new party, and compete against the far left and far right.
It seems like the far left has absolutely lost it’s collective mind, and unfortunately, the platform that would typically support ideals I would support is also endorsing the insanity.
I am disturbed by people who applauded the two police officers getting shot in the face. I am disturbed by people who support the riots and the violence, who are all leftists (they are not liberals, as far as I am concerned).
I find myself wanting to move to Idaho to get away from crazy.
I abhor the idea of voting for Trump. But I also abhor the idea of supporting a platform that is endorsing the insanity.
So what am I supposed to do? Not vote? Write-in Andrew Yang? Mark Cuban?
The temperature needs to come down.

Democrats are just busy shooting themselves in the feet and identity politics will split their movement in pieces, as usual, yet again. Nothing new.

Let’s simplify this
Propaganda

You do you. If you believe people on the left celebrate the cops getting shot, or support the riots, then you have fallen for the right's propaganda. That's a hole only you can pull yourself out from.
Chief
Not supporting how cops are behaving and condeming police brutality, doesn't mean people supports shooting them. Thats a wild leap of logic.
Even Biden has immediately condemned the violent actions. Even if individuals may support these actions, it is not part of the democratic platform.
Full disclosure: I don't consider myself a democrat. I have never voted for a democtat presidential candidate. I will vote this year for Biden.

Vote for Trump, easy choice here. Look at the party of hate and anarchy and woke post modernism on the other side
I mean vote who you want, but lots of your reasoning seems illogical.
You recognize that Biden and most Democrats are not pushing for “far left” policies, so it seems pretty illogical to be concerned that somehow that will all change and far left policies will be the result if they are elected.
You recognize that the protests are in response to real and enduring systemic racism, and that your feed is now filling up with people supporting BLM and saying riots are necessary for reform. But when pondering why this level of violence wasn’t there under the Obama administration, or how it might differ under a Biden one, all you come up with is to ask if Democratic governors would have been more willing to “squash” protests under a Democratic president.
You recognize BLM already existed under Obama but treat it as inexplicable that it wasn’t so violent before. Well what else is different? How about the fact that unlike Obama or Biden, Trump has refused any meaningful reforms to address the underlying issues people are protesting, and has instead sought to vilify them, or even “squash” them (albeit unsuccessfully)? Did you ever think about how Trump’s response is exactly what makes all those people in your feed think riots are the only way to effect change? Like Dr King said, “riots are the language of the unheard.”
Trying to “squash” protests just doesn’t work in a democracy - it only escalates things. If everything Trump does in 2020 seems to make the riots worse, what kind of magical thinking does it take to believe that 4 more years of him will make it better? If you want the violence to stop, you need new leadership that can reset the stage, offering real reform to separate the mass of cause-driven protestors from the minority of anarchists, and arrest the anarchists. What you need is someone like Joe Biden.

Crazy will find you in Idaho. Pretty decent known nazi population, especially in the mountainous north. It's a known problem, one Idaho has tried to ignore away for some time with no success.
As for the write in, no one has a gun to your head. Write in whoever you want.
As for the claims of apprehensive identity politics, as tragic as police officers getting shot, it happens all the time, and from what this year has shown, sometimes it's deservingly so. A uniform doesn't make someone not a piece of shit and people do have lines that aren't respected by these officers pretty consistently. I served 8 years. Trust me. A good amount of these assholes put on a uniform knowing they have more leverage over others. Like the ones who have used that leverage to cage children and sterilize women, something that is actually, and continues to happen. Or the rise of white supremacists, all of whom support Trump and continue to run people over with their vehicles, some of whom are police and have been outed as white supremacists. Or the police literally murdering a man on camera. I find it interesting that you decided to use the police situation as the driver of your hesitation. It comes off as sealioning.
While your post borders on the line of astroturfing, I would say to anyone maybe step back, put the last 4 years in perspective, and ask yourself if you want another round instead of using this instance as the statistical sample that governs your entire political leaning. It should be cut and dry. Biden isn't perfect, but he's definitely experienced and capable, while Trump has pretty much shown to be a Bond villain.
If you’d left an extreme religion you would recognize the symbols and tools of religion being employed by the political parties.
There is a reason that Trump can outspend Obama without drawing criticism from Republicans. There is a reason Biden can show clear signs of mental decline without democrats blinking an eye.
People fence off a portion of their brain to let their ideologies live without disturbance, and without any evidence or rational thought to support them.
You don’t have to engage with me. But I’m being genuine. Don’t know who to vote for and didn’t see harm in starting a discussion on a discussion board.
Not an american but it seems like either way the president doesn't have enough power to radically implement all of the items in the manifesto. So vote for someone who you think would make the country better.
But for the love of Christ don't gaslight everyone who disagrees your way of thinking by posting your dilemma about a decision you already have taken.

Are you also disturbed by black people getting murdered for nothing? How about the resurgence of blatant white supremacy or the inaction of covid. If this is a serious post where you support Yang but don’t know who to vote for between trump and Biden, I’m at a loss for you
Vote Trump, because a vote for Trump is a vote against both the tyranical Democratic Party and the narcissist and self-serving Republican Party. A lot of people still don’t get it, but Trump didn’t get elected as a Republican, he just played it smart and went Republican as they did not have anything good to match the Clinton dynasty. People voted for Trump to vote the two incumbent parties out, and this November, you should vote not only for Trump, but for representatives that give a dang about YOU and who seem the least likely to be corrupted by their parties.
