I saved half my income when I used to make $50k. No family support (except some encouragement!) I make more now and save even more. You don't have to make six figures to retire! As long as you have a high savings rate you're good. Check out MMM's article "The shockingly simple math behind early retirement"

Has anyone ever used a professional development coach? I want to improve both time management and communication skills and just learn how to get out of my own way. There are some coaches at my firm, but they’re tied to our practice groups and I would rather work with someone independently. Any recommendations? Suggestions on other resources? Thanks!

So I wanted to share my experience and see if it helps anyone else out there. I was not an alcoholic, but I was definitely alcohol abusive. I would go out and drink and then be completely blacked out and not remember anything. I would also do and say stupid things that just made no sense and I even got in trouble with the law a few times.

One day, my friend and I after a few day bender decided to take some LSD because we were hung over and just wanted to not drink and chill. (Cont.)

I have a lot of student debt from law school. I’ve refinanced a couple of times and received the best fixed rate available, but I’ve seen others refinance with a variable rate which of course is lower. I’ve read some other comments of people refinancing at a super low variable rate....isn’t this risky? Of course I am afraid of going variable and then the interest rates going up a lot. Am I missing something?

Im 35. Considering to start investing in Real Estate this year. Looking to buy 1 property to start generating cash flow, but most importantly, long term equity. No plans to sell. Condo or Single family residence. Considering booming areas like Austin, Vegas or somewhere with potential to grow. Will need local help, since I don’t live there (realtor + property manager). Already have 20% down, but considering putting less. All closing fees are also covered. Is this a good idea or should just wait?

Any market considerations before refinancing my student loan with current rates? They’re giving me a .75-1% drop.

It’s worth it to refinance at this rate to save paying $1000 of interest albeit credit gets hurt. My only concern is missing out on inevitable lower rates forthcoming.

new to investing. have done some research - reading blogs and a few books on investing. I still have the question of do individuals that take the index fund route… do you all purchase the same funds for different accounts? Example, would you invest in VTSAX across a brokerage and roth account, or would you take a different approach for each account?
