Don't know anyone who has negotiated a yearly bonus and actually gotten it. But as an ACD you can probably push for $120k without a problem and that more than makes up for it. Obviously depends on where you go.
My acd salary was 125.
I'd ask for 20% signing bonus. Accept no less than 15%?
No such thing as "guaranteed" bonus amount.
Please ask for more. They can always counter. I don't want to get into more senior levels with lower pay because people are used to taking less.
Thanks. Yea I've always been bad at negotiating. But this is a sign-on bonus, 1 time. The yearly is already included, based on performance. It's an in-house creative team, so not agency which, I know almost never do yearly bonuses.
Signing should be at least $10-15k OR you submit receipts and they cover all of it for moving expenses, transporting your car, etc.
Whatever number you negotiate remember what you will actually get is that number net of taxes.
105K for a married ACD is not much in NYC after taxes :(
^^^shit I read that wrong, you're moving FROM LA. Apologies.
Point still stands; if it's something you truly want, etc.
Good luck!
I don't anything about in-house, but $105K is low for an ACD in NYC. And yeah, 11K bonus guaranteed?!?! Phefffft
Agree. $105k is low, I've made more as a Sr. Art. But the yearly bonus is $11k-19k. So it balances out. I've never had to deal with a signing bonus, but it's justified due to the relocation. Just not sure how much I should ask for and go about it. Appreciate the advice.
You could get a relo package and use the receipts for both you and your wife and get two reimbursement checks.
Thinking I'll ask for $110k base and a $15k signing. It not in NYC so taxes are not as bad.
Verizon?
Ok two things:
1) is this a sure thing? If you're their first and best choice and there's ink on paper looking for a signature, DEFINITELY negotiate up. You could probably get away with $120k + expenses + relocation and make sure there's a minimum bonus
2) if this is not a sure thing but it's something you really want, don't play hardball. Don't roll over either but I would ask myself if my happiness was worth that extra $15k. Counter with something reasonable so you don't look like a pushover but if you're moving for peace of mind and personal fulfillment, just take the offer and say goodbye to snow banks and subways and hello to beaches and surfing and consider yourself one of the lucky ones :)
