Well, 2 years ago I was in same scenario. I agreed my manager and got increment. But, before getting promotion, manager resigned. So, please go with current offer.
I kinda like the work here. I am from a product development team and learning quite a lot. That's why I am confused.
Your current package?
7.64 LPA
Resign for now, if you want to stay tell your manager I will take my resignation back only if you promote me.
Else resign.
Also look for other opportunities, you might end up with higher package.
@W1: Alright, let me see. 😐
What would be your pay after promotion? Would it be higher than the pay hike with 12 LPA offer. If we include the bonus with the hike after promotion would you earn more than 12 LPA for a year at the minimum?
If you resign and assuming you serve 2 months notice, then it comes around the same time frame (October).
Yes,it would be higher than the new offer. In IBM, there is no variable component and other BS in the salary structure. Everything is fixed. I will be getting band 7A for which the minimum salary is 11.5 LPA + bonus was ridiculously high.
Same thing happened with me. But I knew they are not going to give promotion later. I have seen people getting promotion in 5 days. But since you have taken retention bonus. It a lolipop and they know you will think twice to resign again. When I resigned they said they will give promotion in three months so I said, I will take my resignation back once I will get the promotion. But in between I got more better offers. I am leaving now. If you think
1) profile is good in next company.
2) if you can get more offers.
Then resign and return the bonus.
If work is good here and there has been less then 2 years in IBM. You can think about staying for 1 more year.
Plus I want to know your skills
Idgaf about the retention bonus, it's returnable and I asked my manager and he told me that it's not a bond. Incan return it and leave any day.
I am being put into a project which requires a tech. for which they are finding it hard to get resources. It's a new product but, I don't like that product at all.
Apart from that I am from Big Data + Cloud and part of a product/asset development team which is being adopted by a client now (Yes, we got a client). I was working in open source tech. stack but, now they want to put me into something which literally no other company uses except for IBM.
Skills:
AWS (EC2, S3, EMR, MSK, MWAA, Cloudfront, Cloudwatch, Lambda)
IBM Cloud (Events Stream, Analytics Engine)
Kafka (Confluent, Generic)
Java + Python
Airflow
Spark (PySpark, Java Spark)
CI/CD
I've been working in IBM since the last 3.7 years now. I am thankful to the people here because they have given me everything without me even asking for it.
They promoted me last year I don't know how and why. That's why I am a bit confused.
