Would hold back on this in case it impacts promotions - if they have you mentally written off as leaving at some point, they may be less willing to invest in you in the meantime. However, if you prove your value over the next years maybe they will (co)finance the MBA as a retention tool
Excel at your job now. Maybe you will be on a fast track and not need/want an MBA. Have the convo down the road once you decide that is the path you’re going to go.
Casually and at the right moment? Not sure I see the rush, but the nice thing about it being deferred is that you can take your time. At some point, once you've been at the firm for a while, there'll be a moment where you can frame this however makes sense.
For reference my dilemma is because I want to do some MBA application consulting but would have to disclose this as an outside business activity to my employer, which would likely reveal my MBA plans even though I wasn’t planning on telling them.
Just to add to this, without knowing anything more about yourself than that you're starting a gig on the buy-side of a PE fund, I find it hard to believe that you have either the time or the need for a side-hussle.

Relax. You've got really cool options ahead.
