Hi everyone, I am working on java since 2017. I have 1 YOE in Tata Consultancy in support and now I want to switch to a Java developer role. I have personally worked on Java, Servlets, JSP, Spring, Spring Boot, Rest API and Hibernate. Made & deployed a few projects also, but don't have relevant/ company experience in Java. I also cleared Infosys interview 1 month back but my notice period is 3 months, so HR dropped my candidature in negotiations. Can anyone please suggest to me what I should do?

McKinsey & Company Hey folks!
Was wondering what sort of life sciences projects does usually the Boston Consulting Group and McKinsey & Company take on?
Commercial, access and pricing, M&A, transformation, implementation? (all of them perhaps?)
Basically, what would someone with an LS background be mainly working on in these firms on a day-to-day basis?
Thanks!

Most certainly do not take it. BCG hires laterals when they need them for sales upticks and then happily fires them and others when business slows, just does so quietly. They’ve turned into a really bad culture since H2 2022. Even if they offered you PL I’d say walk away. At a consultant level, I wouldn’t even think about the offer.
Not crazy at all. MBB isn’t all that.

Lmao fr! At the director level, AP or above is the only rank you should consider in consulting. Consultant means your rank equals that of an undergrad with 1-2 years of experience.
I was in the same boat and turned down the C offer. Currently, a Director at a F100 bank with prior T2 experience.
For sure
Do you know what you want eventually? If it’s within the HCS/LSS industry, wouldn’t it make sense to keep climbing where you are or pivot from there?
I was a similar hire into BCG as a Consultant, and subsequently hired multiple folks from industry over the course of 25 years with the firm. Taking one step down is not unusual in exchange for the prospect of quicker career advancement, valuable experience and the brand on your CV. Not saying it’s easy or always successful, but I could point to multiple success stories. However two steps down is unusual. Worth going back, explaining your situation and asking about a PL offer. Chances are the answer is no, but it doesn’t hurt to ask. At the very least, ask for 12 months tenure credit so you could be promoted quicker.

The network is everything at BCG — industry knowledge can be taught and is expected to be learned, quickly. Without a network you don’t get staffed when business is bad and you’re let go for low reps regardless of if you “could have been great” or not. I suspect this is true at a number of firms now.
The other odd thing about this prospective move is you’re currently a Business Development Director, whereas at BCG you would have no meaningful BD responsibilities until after TWO promotions (C—>PL—>Principal) in roughly 5 years time. So the day to day work is going to be completely different for a good while. Is this really the work you want to be doing??
Was this for the BCG San Francisco office?
Lol if the tone were an iota less genuine I’d think you were trolling. Especially given your current role is sales focused why would to go to a role at MBB that doesn’t have sales yet?
It is very strange you arrived at the end of the process not knowing the level you were applying to.
However, if you feel it’s below your true value, I would negotiate PL with some negative tenure.
This can be done. I was offered to enter as a C12m + sign on bonus but negotiated to get PL-6m and no bonus. Best decision ever
So don’t take it
K thanks
Do not take this offer. High potential for failure coming in as a lateral and your career will stall as you’ll have taken a step down as an IC.
