Got told my discovery calls are too long at 35 minutes on average, but that's when I actually uncover real needs. Are you all doing 15 minute speed rounds now?

My discovery calls are short as I sell my product in person. Those meetings are often 2 hours or so.

helpful

2 hours is a good amount of time depending the product and what it does for the company. I feel like some people think were selling iPhones and the discovery takes 10 mins. Like give me some room to get these leads in the bag..

I think 35 minutes is fine if it is productive. I would rather have a deeper conversation than rush through a scripted 15 minute call that uncovers nothing.

And to top it off I have a high conversion rate. I think its silly to just ve metrics driven when youre actually out performing most.

Hi Fishes,

Need some help figuring out where I stand in the job market and what profiles should I apply for. Here are some of the roles I play in the team:

2. Work on deliverables when the team isn't available, and this happens more often than not because we have a small team.

Anyone go from SaaS / licensing sales to services (strategy & implementation) sales?

I'm thinking of moving from large cap tech to large cap consultancy firm to help build the resume and round out my experience. I enjoy and do well in licensing, but I'm fairly young in my career (<6 years) and received a great offer to make the move.

Big fan of the org and team I'll be joining as well.

Thanks!!

Seeking advice: I am a young sales consultant and sales engineer working for a tech startup company. I have 6 years of sales experience. And I have been helping run my family business for the past 10 years. I was intially interviewed for a senior account executive position at a $70k offer. Instead they told me I needed more training and hired me as a Junior account executive at a $50k salary + commission. Today is my 6th month mark and I have done very well. And no talks of a promotion / raise..

I’ve been told I would make a great COO someday and I’m ready to take the next step into leadership. Who/what should I be targeting next?

It’s a 4 year degree and under this I have my High School equivalent with the years I attended there. The education wasn’t mentioned in the interviews. Continued below.

My company covers in depth results each week, including meetings set/attended, wins, revenue, retention etc. I feel as if evaluating in such depth is detrimental to the psyche, as you never get to “ride the high.” In addition, some weeks are simply slower than others, and it’s not always representative of what the results at the end of the period or quarter will be. Is this not a big deal, and I’m I placing too much importance on it? Or is it beneficial to review results less frequently?
