Got verbal offer from McKinsey. Anyone have advice on what to expect with the formal offer? Is there wiggle room with PTO?

I don't think quantity of PTO in the bank will be your limiting factor.

Unlikely that any part will be negotiable, most of all salary or PTO (it’s generous PTO even for new hire, and you can go negative). Unlikely but worth trying to negotiate signing bonus.

Tips for not crying when you’re asking for leave? I’m so stressed and overwhelmed with work and the CPA exam and I want to take time off to just put all my energy into the exam and be done with it. I want a month and a half to finish it up and then have a week or two to decompress before I come back. But anytime I wanna talk about it, the stress and nerves overwhelm me and my eyes start welling up. Idk how to control it.

Very early in my pregnancy and I know my job is a dead end.

Any idea what the average tenure requirement for mat leave is at agencies? My current agency is 6 months. Is that standard?

Will people do the math if I get a new job and know I was pregnant when I got hired?

I’m currently interviewing but wondering if it’s going to reflect poorly on me at a new job if they realize i was already pregnant when I accepted the job.

When it comes to your job search:

1) How often/much do you get feedback from recruiters or whoever you just spoke with? Feels like we're always in the dark. One way feedback street.

2) Who do you like to work with? Headhunters vs internalrecruiters? Is the experience different?

3) Have you had to align your interviews so that the offers would come in close/same day? What's your strategy?

4) What's your process in weighing [multiple] offers? If that ever happens? Where do you keep your notes?

I've been in practice for about a year at a high stakes plaintiffs litigation firm. I make $85/year, I'm in the office at 8 and leave around 5:30. I work occasionally on Saturdays. When we have something big coming up, I stay extra to get it done in time. I've never missed a deadline.

I had a meeting this week where the partners told me they questioned my commitment because they were working more hours than me.

Am I the problem here and should work more, or is it time to find a new job?

Generally curious how many companies offer phone reimbursement? My last gig did not but the current one does. Legally it seems, all employers are required to do so if we use our phone in literally any capacity (video call, slack, teams, emails etc). How prevalent is the issue of not reimbursing phone dues?

One of ex’s friends who is I met twice, has been in touch, him and his wife, like commenting on some of my posts occasionally (we are just fb friends and IG friends). I never saw them since. Then the friend texts asking if I am seeing someone and that he wants to set me up with someone. He felt awkward doing that, I thanked him for thinking of me, but then he said we all told your ex he is an idiot for letting you go and they asked my ex it they could still be touch with me and he said yes.

How to compare competing offers assuming all else equal? Proven platform/known commodity vs. more “entrepreneurial” opportunity. When is the right time to take that career risk? Pre-VP or post? Both would involve moving and I want to make the right long term decision for my family.
