For some client facing roles there are stress tests. I don’t agree with how they’re done, but I understand wanting to hire folks that don’t crack when pressured
Chief
Usually those roles pay a lot of money, so that’s the carrot on the stick. Also it’s way too expensive to hire and fire. You’d rather get it right upfront
Oliver Wyman for those wondering. And the asshole was ex-Booz, so i know where he was taught his craft…..
Maybe they were trying to see how you react under pressure? What rank? Can you explain how you were attacked?
Chief
What do you mean that the interviewer was “attacking”
Yes I would love to know what they did during the interview process. I never never experience any of this.

I had a firm do this. I stopped the interview process and said no thanks.

I interviewed with a recruiter who told me they do this as a part of their interview process, a role play scenario in addition to the usual interviews. I didn’t proceed for different reasons (pay), but I was fine with the role play since I knew what was coming and would get to know the team outside of that scenario.
Had an interview like OP’s years ago and I absolutely felt attacked. I don’t see how anyone can perform well in that kind of situation. You’re going on an interview not an underworld interrogation to find who stole the boss’s money.
Yeah, it seems fine for a role play when it’s communicated up front and debriefed afterwards. Otherwise, just bs..
No that’s crazy
