You needn't do anything for a career in internal audit. Call them, and they'll take you in with open arms.

Not as Senior but I left as SM to go into IA. I recruit Associate/Senior/Manager equivalent; a designation is not a must. It would be helpful to have either the CPA or CIA, though a lot of people don’t. In most instances, wherever you will apply you’ll apply for a speciality, or you’ll be asked which specialty you prefer (ie Markets, Technology, CFR etc)… have some considerations around what you want to do as it will effectively set you up for the rest of your career (not saying it’s hard to move around, but you more naturally would either promote through the ranks in IA or end up integrating into the business that you’re working in). Internal Audit is growing and in my opinion it’s becoming more of a focus and getting a lot more investment, which opens opportunities.

Guilty! Being the interviewee recently has taught me what I failed to do as an interviewer. 1Outline your hiring process/timeline. Simple but oft overlooked. Tell them how many people they’ll be meeting, when u aim to shortlist, when u aim to hire. Communicate- someone is probably intensely waiting for any word. They may miss other opportunities for u. 2 Closure! Surprising how many places don’t let u know when they’ve moved on from u! 3 Can u offer helpful advice for them? 4 Reply to all.
