No, found it to be a pain in the ass. BUT I did improve spending habits significantly using YNAB and linking my accounts. You’re habits will change within a month once you see where your moneys going.
It's a pain but I charge reimbursable expenses to a separate budget category and separate out the reimbursements from my paycheck.
+1 for YNAB though. Zero based budgeting really makes you think about your financial goals and how to get there.
Yes, honestly. Mentally with my cc I always think “eh I’m sure it’s fine I’ll figure it out later;” whereas I have a pathological fear of overdrawing so I always check my account balance and add up expenses etc when it’s coming from my checking account. I’m not entirely thrilled with the fact that this is the way I operate since those CC points are nice, but, I saved way more the first month than I ever did when I was mostly using cc’s! Now I do a more hybrid approach so we will see how it goes 🤞🏻
I tried it out for 3 months. I spent roughly the same. but I’m sure in the long run I would spend less if using cash, especially when it comes to trips and holiday spend
I use it for bars
