They gave me my first law firm offer while I was a 3L. They were super nice and had me sold on the position until the offer came... 2400 billable requirement and $62k in salary. I actually tried to counter (I felt desperate for a job) at $70k and they completely ghosted me. I am so thankful I did not take that job. That was in 2018. Maybe they have changed things since then.
Soooo horrible! I ended up accepting a job out of state starting at $89k in a low cost of living city. Business litigation. I moved back to FL last year, still business lit, and make $140k now.
I don’t think the pay is particularly competitive since it’s basically a step above insurance defense. I know someone that works there and there doesn’t seem to be a ton of balance but that could be more of a testament of the person not the firm.
Would you recommend it over a general liability firm?
I don’t think that is indicative of what they pay at all. The starting salary is much higher than that and the bonuses for production make the pay higher than most people I graduated with. I guess if you only do the minimum it’s average but if you are at all motivated then you make way more than what was in the above comment. Way more.
Okay, do you mind sharing your salary and total comp then?
