Has anyone here worked on a tobacco account? I don't have much of a hangup on the product itself (users know what they're getting into, like alcohol) but I'm wondering if the work is usable in a book, or if it's taboo in the eyes of hiring managers/decision makers. Weighing whether to pursue a role ripping heaters or not...

I was a sales rep for a tobacco company before going into advertising. Not on my resume anymore due to experience, but kept it on there as a talking piece of working in a regulated industry, getting buy in from multiple people for a program, etc. A bit different on the account side though I imagine. I don’t know all the law limitations and what’s allowed or not allowed, but I imagine it could be hard to get some great work done because of what you are legally allowed to say and or show in the creative. That said, opens you up to other regulated industries when you learn how to play in a confined sandbox.

You can’t display the work on your website without a password. With that being said, it’s unlikely the work would be good enough for your book anyways.

Stay 1 more year, exit to industry with manager title. 2. Move to advisory internally, but most likely would have to do one more year in audit and move as audit manager to advisory sr 3. Exit immediately into industry to try for accounting manager title / senior accountant or sr fin analyst 4. Exit immediately to advisory senior at another big 4 firm

Signed an offer with another consulting firm. Linkedin recruiter got back to me for an interview with a role I’m interested in but the pay will be 10k less base and most likely a much lower TC. Been wanting to exit to tech but the other consulting firm seem ok. I feel like tech interviews are harder to come by. Should I just settle and decline the LinkedIn interview?

After you’ve connected with a consultant on LinkedIn what’s the best practice for asking someone to give you a practice case? To balance respect someone’s time vs coming off as transactional. Should you first ask for coffee chat, then later a case or can you ask for a case in your first “chat”? I am prepping for MBB interviews but I know consultants work crazy hours so I don’t want to take up more time than necessary - what would you prefer? What is the best practice?
