Fmla as far as I know is not a paid leave so if they are asking you to take pto it’s so you get paid until the pto runs out.

You’re right, it’s not paid. That’s why a lot of companies want you to take your PTO first.
I took family care leave which is covered and paid at 100%. It’s a month to take care of a family member. I’ve used it twice over the years for different family member. It works in connection with Fmla and is administer by leave management service. So it requires medical documentation.
I’d check and see if there is any provision for this with your company.
My Norma day is a 4x10 hrs. So it will match your normal work day and week.
Yes. I have an adult daughter with cancer. My firm has been amazing at giving me flexibility and provide intermittent leave benefits as well as “time when you need it”. I filed for FMLA just to make sure I was protected but really didn’t need to. I feel very very lucky.
