I was in the final stages of an interview with Microsoft two weeks ago, in partner marketing. Then the recruiter told me they were putting the hiring process on hold to assess the need for the role. Well, then we heard about Microsoft layoffs last week. Seems like most were in Xbox and Project Alpha but there’s not a lot of information out there. Should I hold out any hope that I’m going to get this job? Any insights on how much these layoffs have impacted the marketing org and/or new hiring?
So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?

I was and I was so happy about it because my intention was to leave after getting the bonus anyway. I got a bonus and the financial/time benefits of being let go. Had to try really hard not to smile during my call with HR.
I was fired as a student worker in a University dining hall while in graduate school. Collected too many disciplinary points, was lazy.

I got fired from Burger King when i was 16 for "working to slow". Nevermind that I didn't enjoy the greasy envornment. Yup, lasted 5 weeks on that job.

But I had collegues that have been fired.
They are software developer as I am, mostly junior under my guidance, but despite their studies , put simply, they were not tailored for this job.
Yes you can learn new competences, but if you fall short in logical reasoning it's a different story and it is too costly to wait and hope they will train it to a decent level, so after some months of patience (Yeah I'm optimistic) I had to report their poor performance.

Do you mean fired, laid off or counseled out? Very different questions.
