Liking it is just a bonus.
It’s one of those painful truths where all you can do is laugh instead of cry.

He'll also be out within 6 months after that as they'll know he's shopping around other places.
Alternate viewpoint - if you like what you're doing now and don't think you'll like the new job as much, you should seriously consider staying (and maybe seeing if you can get a raise). You have an entire career to make money - unless it's an obscene difference (like double) you really should stay wherever you are happy. Life's too short to be miserable for a small pay raise.
How much more? If it’s less than 15% keep on looking/wait
How big is the salary difference? And wlb difference? The pay has to justify any additional work, commuting or relocation.
Be sure to think about the next several years of salary growth. Often times, what happens is that a person feels behind, so they leave consulting for a 30% pay bump. That's good at first, but all the raises are small, and 2 years later, their old consulting peers have reached parity, and in 4 or 5 years, the consulting friends have left the person behind again.
