Yes, felt my agency was dragging their feet on a promotion after talking it over with my supervisor. So I started looking, and got an offer sooner than expected. Genuinely liked the agency and didn’t want to leave but felt I had no choice. Sad as much when I came back with the competing offer, got a counter to stay and took it. Still here but in the same situation again 2 years later.
It’s part of the agency game sometimes unfortunately. But, you gotta look out for #1.
Yessir. I’ve done this multiple times with varying outcomes. The first time, I got a promo and raise on the spot. That said, I ended up leaving shortly after anyway bc I was just done with the work. The second time I was told best of luck and my agency refused to match. TL;DR it depends on your agency/manager, but most importantly you should consider why you applied elsewhere. Getting a raise is nice, but if the work doesn’t excite you anymore you’re just wasting everyone’s time— yours included. Good luck!
