Has it been generally very slow in corporate practice group? I’m a junior associate and I’m billing maybe ~20 hours

I’m an M&A associate and billed 210 last month and anticipate same/around the same this month.

like

Same.

Slow in our M&A group as well. Lots of associates in the 100-125ish hours range last month

like

5th year and it's slow... in m&a. I billed 110 hours last month and this month isn't look too much better.

Corp finance 1st yr. Only billing ~3 hrs per day. So anxious..

Crazy slow at the moment - not your fault really, we're all bracing ourselves for impact

Don’t sweat it…. it’s not your job

Does it make a different that I’m also a first year?

like

Also a first year, extremely slow.

I’m in cap markets and January/February have been pretty busy due to today’s staleness date. Generally IPOs are picking up, but still not crazy busy.

I’m in T&E and it has been SLOW

I am in capital markets and it has been CRAZY busy for us since the beginning of the year. That has not been the case for our M&A team though, which has been much slower.

As a first year that’s totally fine and honestly not bad

I’m a second year in M&A and it has been slow. Billed about 50 hours last month….

Junior associate here, should I ask for more money if my firm is about 10-15 percent less hours but about 30 percent less pay? The gap will never be closed to the top pay scale at my firm but when I decided to come to this firm the pay difference was about 15 percent and not 30. Would appreciate any thoughts on how to go about bringing this up without pissing people off because I love the firm and do not want to leave

Working on a deal where buyer's side keeps on insisting on a POA to effectuate all actions of Seller under the agreement, including executing documents. I keep striking this and commenting that this is not standard. Has anyone dealt with this? I am okay with a limited POA based on the industry of the Seller, but not this general POA.

I had some major life events this year for which I had to take a large chunk of time off, and with half the year already gone, I’m getting worried about making the hours for my bonus. Is it always an “all or nothing” or do firms give prorated bonuses in certain situations?
