Have avoided the VA since getting out but my knees and back suck and I for sure have tinnitus from loud a$$ aircraft and equipment. My question- does VA give disability for the tinnitus portion and how much typically?

I was told when separating the VA doesn’t give more than 10% for tinnitus.

Gotcha good to know. Really need to get my ducks in a row and get the ball going. Have avoided it for too long and worried lack of army documentation I’ll get a 0% right out the gate

I had zero documentation as well but still got 10%. Got a hearing test done at a va facility and that was that

like

I got rated during my one and only application right out of service. I had decent documentation on everything else

like

I got 10% for tinnitus (did a hearing test during my med board). Your case sounds more than that. I would try and file a claim and see where it goes. I think they will look at your medical history and see if you had hearing issues during service or shortly after service since it needs to be tied to your time in service. Best of luck

My issue is I was all moto while in and avoided sick call in the hopes of airborne school that never came. So no real supporting documentation… another reason I’ve avoided the VA. Assuming I’d get a 0% immediately

Hire an attorney or get one of these veteran reps to help you. I didn’t and got 60% and refiling almost 7 years later with an attorney to hopefully get max potential benefit.

I've seen some take 50%. Contact your Veteran's Service Office or DAV rep. They cost nothing. I'm finally getting my medical records I've requested 15 times over the last 20 years.

As far as I know they do and it is normally 10%. My friend got the disability rated for 10%.

10%

I’d hurry as the VA is proposing a change to remove Tinnitus from being a standalone disability.

As of 2017, it was 10%

Didn’t know this. Thank you!

Get everything documented even if it isn’t service connected right now. I have tinnitus also and get 10% but a destroyed shoulder that hurt at the time and VA doctor told me it was nothing. Get independent second opinions

Yeah had to hve elbow surgery, injury nkt service related, but I’m 30 and it always gives me problems now trying to work out. Appreciate the tips fellas. So what I’m reading- get plenty of documentation from primary care docs then go to VA?

Yes, 10% is the max for tinnitus. Try to all of your medical records and run through it with a fine tooth comb to see what else you may have had issues while in service. And consider secondary claims as well (i.e. other issues that may have been caused because of another one - like getting migraines because of tinnitus/etc.). If there isn't much on medical records, getting buddy letters from people you served with who can vouch for events/etc. can also help. And definitely don't just rely on the VA doctors - look for outside opinions for sure.

Does anyone have experience breaking up w a therapist? I've been seeing my therapist for 5+ years for eating disorder treatment and we've been through so much together, but I don't think she's able to help me anymore. While I've stopped my ED behaviors, they've evolved into OCD, and I'm finding that her methods might be making it worse. I think I want to try an OCD expert instead. But I don't know how to end the relationship. Do I just stop going? Do I explain myself? I don't know what to do 🥺

Interesting. Let’s see if the uptick In cases continues to drive an uptick in hospitalizations and then in fatalities. Depends on how many of the cases are incidental or in very young people not prone to severe cases. But either way, look at the hospital capacity utilization figures! This is the untold story. Were we bending the curve to avoid unnecessary deaths due to overcrowded hospitals, or were we bending the curve to buy time for treatments and vaccine, or just to slow fatalities?
