Yup, I have a great intern this year, and she is a good fit for the firm. But I am giving her a realistic picture of what's happening, because it is terrible to recruit people out of college and lay them off 1-year in.
FYI they are getting this from multiple sources - word of mouth, wallstreetoasis and here.
Short answer is times are tough industry wide, result will be less offers and honestly if you have an opp to join another company that is kicking ass out of school go for it!
As a grad school intern I'm not surprised. I think it's normal. I've worked in both industry and consulting and layoffs happen all the time. It does suck for the undergrad interns. I did hear that they're the most profitable so chances are lower for them to get laid off right after hire no?
@PwC2. They are the cheapest, but not the most profitable. They can't get billed out for much. Sr. Associate is typically the most profitable
