what does charles schwab have to do with it? why answer if u dont know. to sell securities need series 7. cfp covers insurance tax planning investment topics cash flow estate and trust topics. its not hard as cpa but requires studying. even if u know tax well the cfp asks questions on specific phaseouts etc that u may know generally but rely on tax softwre for exact numbers. worth it only if u want to be fin planner and alot of jobs involve sales and commissions

It way more interesting and I don’t think any exam is as time consuming as the CPA. Exception of CFA perhaps.

CFA is the only exam comparable to the CPA, as mentioned. My (limited) understanding is that CFP is good if you’re planning on advising individuals, like as a sole practitioner or part of Charles Schwab. Correct me if I’m wrong though.

I am looking to drop my series 7 and join an RIA. I’ve finally accepted that the BD environment is a terrible fit for me. I would like to join an RIA team because I’m just over 5 years in and I would like to have some mentors to continue learning from, but if I can’t find the right fit then my plan is to launch my own. Where to start looking for an established RIA? I have not completed my CFP yet.

Friend wants to join consulting for the pay. I don’t believe she has the aptitude or energy for it. We worked together in a much slower industry, and even there she complained of being overworked. I’ve sent her resources to polish up her resume and links for roles but she’s insisting on texting/long phone calls asking silly questions. Today she wants a resume review over zoom! She comes without having done her homework. How do I tell her I’ve given as much as I can? How do I decline referring?

Submitted a resume to a recruiter for a job last Monday. They called me within 2 hours and asked to schedule a phone call. The call went well, and they sent me all the necessary paperwork they need me to sign. I signed it within the hour and sent them an email saying I’m looking forward to working with them. Haven’t heard anything back since then. Is that weird? Does the recruiter actually think I am a good fit for the role? She sent me the name of the company and everything.
