Have the opportunity to switch jobs 3 months out of school to a role that has considerably higher compensation (better base, better bonus, good growth) but in a very niche space.  It is a space I'm interested in but I'm worried that after a few years I may get stuck if I really end up not liking it. Should I stay in a more general consulting role since Im young to explore different spaces (currently analyst in ACN Strat) or just make the jump? This feels like a huge life decision for me.

You want to stay here?

funny

You will always be able to go back to the ACNs of the world... Go try it.

Also, you're 3 months out of school. Def not a huge life decision

like

My question would be if you’d have the opportunity to try similar work at Accenture? If so, stay. If no, boomerang if need be.

like

Take it and leave. You can always boomerang back to ACN, especially if you’re not learning anything on one of those CC projects.

like

If you really don’t like it after a few years, there’s always b school

like

What’s the role?

like

its a very niche role so don't feel comfortable giving specifics but its a mix of an insurance & banking role

Do it. If you don't take risks now when do you plan to take them, when you are forty with a wife, 2.5 kids and a dog?

like

What is the compensation expectation over the next 4 years? Are you going to be mad if your pay, which starts off high, is not that great vs peers who might be a level or two higher in a few years?

Does it leave open future options you want, like maybe going to bschool if you need it as a reset button?

Curious if anyone else is or has been in the same boat. I started as an assistant at an entertainment law firm prior to passing the bar. Upon passing, the partner told me they would hire an assistant for me since I now became an associate. That was 1.5 years ago and I am still in the limbo of juggling my own workload + doing assistant roles for my supervisors. I have also had no increase in pay, which is a huge deal for me. Is this normal in the entertainment world? Any suggestions?

I recommended a candidate for hire to a manager that reports directly to me. This person is a perfect match, but wanted the manager to obviously recommend. It has to be a fit. The manager just told me my recommendation is not her top pick. I feel frustrated because as much as we talk about the position, I wonder if we are mot aligned on criteria. What do I do? Do I push more for the person I want or will I cause an issue with the hiring manager? How do I get her to see this person’s value?

I am more interested in public sector consulting (helping with policy, politics etc.), but I'm afraid of being an idealist about my career. Am I leaving too much money on the table? Can I always reenter the field later on?

Outside of FAANG, what are good large CA-based tech companies that provide good pay, WLB, and culture?
