Hello, I am a recent college graduate looking to get my foot in the door of the accounting field. I received my Bachelor’s degree in May 2022 with a focus on accounting and also received my MBA with a focus on accounting in August 2023. Finally in December of 2024, I received my GCT in Financial Planning. I am located in the Springfield, MA area and am open to working remotely or hybrid or on site. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Apply for jobs, or internships. Big firms. Small firms.

I think the internship route is going to be your best bet! It's the best way to get your foot in the door and get some experience in a more low-stakes position. I'd talk to career counselors at your university if you haven't already

like

I did an internship to get my foot in the door. Unless your a basket case, you’d get an offer afterwards. Just make sure you show them how good you are at following directions and thinking. Good luck!

like

I don't think you can get an internship while you are out of school.

I think remote role are pretty scarce right now from everything I have heard. I would try to get referrals to help you get your foot in the door somewhere.

Anyone able to see the moon in NJ?

I accepted an offer I’m not 100% sure about but want to work internally instead of on client work. Is consulting a safe backup if I want to return? I’m a bit older (mid 40s) and with ageism in tech, I worry if I don’t like this role, I won’t have options there. How do I stay attractive to consulting firms? I work in product design and spent last 5 years in consulting.

Got hired 3 years ago- newly created staff accountant role with the plan that it’ll go into a senior and then manager role. 1.5 years in I get a title promotion to senior, told I’ll get more duties, start supervising AP, and get monetary promotion to match next year. Got way more work, but nothing else promised within that year. Told next money bump would be manager role (no raise for senior still) and I need to take on more and start supervising AP. Again, seeing nothing…time to leave?
