Hello, I worked at Amazon and have 2.3 years experience as an associate(non tech) at L2 level and quit Amazon back in march 2022. After that i did course on Devops/aws and have been attending interviews for the Devops position but failing to clear technical in some and managerial rounds in some companies and have been unemployed. I m really worried and confused at the same time, also feeling low in confidence.

Share what kind of questions you had for those interviews and may be people here can provide pointers. For manegerial rounds it’s all about clear communication about your skills and how will you handle technical scenarios , try to cite some examples and go through some devops projects.
As mentioned in the post , i was basically Part of a non tech team from pricing ops which had their own tools to work upon .
I wanted to change domain from non tech to tech... I enrolled myself with Devops/ AWS Devops course from edureka and started the search. I prepared myself with the YouTube videos and blogs on commonly asked interview questions but i lack the hands on work experience. So i m looking for 1 right opportunity which can help me grow and contribute to org as well.
any leads or refferal will be of great help. thanks in advance
I advice you to target Cloud Operation Engineer role before getting into core devops as it will strengthen your base.
Within a year or two will get better understanding and will clear the devops interviews with ease.
Do not worry about the career gap, people nowadays are taking career breaks as well so its pretty normal.
All the best!!!
Thanks for the advice....as mentioned in the post , i have taken up course from edureka on Devops and i have completed and grasped the course content thoroughly and also prepared myself with the YouTube videos and blogs on commonly asked interview questions and clear with concepts but i lack the hands on work experience. So i m looking for 1 right opportunity which can help me grow and contribute to org as well..so i request anyone reading this post to help me with the same... thanks in advance
Have you ever tried KodeKlod engineers ? You get labs and hands on exercises, at a Use Case level. But if you are expecting to get a real time project work experience it’s difficult as then you wouldn’t know where to start and the people who have hired you might end up supporting you more than deliveries.
Thanks for insight...will try kodeklod engineers.
Atleast if i get opportunities at a junior level also...will be more than happy and i believe m a fast learner and can contribute to project deliverables.
Don't loose hope ,i was there in the same state once
I would suggest to start with an internship. It will be easier to crack and you will get experience for couple of months. And in most cases, they will hire you.
Am worried that this career gap might cause problems.
I completely regret my decision as i have been unemployed for 5 months .So should I look for opportunities in non tech or should I continue my search for Devops position?
Also if i want to get back to Amazon what are the possibilities and options that i can explore . please guide me.
