Hi all, I just got a job offer at PwC for a senior consultant position. The salary is 30% above my total comp right now, but I’m just worried about the amount of work I will have to put in compared to my amazing work life balance now. Does anyone have any experience moving from industry to consulting? I need some advice on what to do. I’m still early in my career (1.4yoe) so I feel like I shouldn’t care too much about wlb, but at the same time, I don’t want my mental health to suffer either.

Just got a job at Deloitte M&A in Atlanta and am currently looking to buy a house. Would you advise I buy closer to Atlanta or the suburbs? I personally want to be in the suburbs but I hear the traffic situation is quite bad. Current consultants in Atlanta, how much time do you actually spend in the office vs remote vs client site? Would you advise I try and stay closer to the office?

No offense….but they are co-workers who are looking out for their best interest, not yours! It is better for them if you are there doing the work they either don’t known how to do, or don’t want to do! Protect yourself and your interests at all costs! Good luck!

Your coworkers will survive. Do what you need to for you! I guarantee if the situation was reversed they wouldn't be putting you into consideration.
If you know what you have to do for yourself, and for your family, disregard what other people are saying. Your coworkers may mean well, or they may be acting selfishly. But either way, what really matters is what's best for your own mental health.
I moved solo to a new state where I didn't know anyone for a job once (years, seems like a lifetime ago) and I'll never do it again!
Do what you feel is best for YOU.
Someone is always going to have an opinion. It sounds like your coworkers need to hush.
Follow your heart. Just make sure to give at least 2 week notice. It is up to them to get a replacement. I have positions better than I found them by making sure everything was organized and a notebook with easy to follow one pagers of each duty and all contacts available. Your supervisor maybe understanding. You may want to secure a job before you move and put in your notice even if it is part-time. Recently, I left my high paying Senior AA position after multiple stressful life events that happened one after the other. I don't regret it. None of my co-workers have ever been my friend. We all have a path to walk and taking care of ourselves first is not selfish, it is emotionally intelligent.

Focus and do what’s best for your mental health. I’m sorry you are going through this but most times when they tell you not to quit it’s for their best interest.
You need to do what you need to do. Family always comes first. At least this is the way for me. Good luck with your choice. Dont listen to your coworkers. They are the ones being selfish
