Hey 🐟, I have about $400 leftover in a WFH stipend I got from my new company. I already have all the essentials (standing desk, keyboard, monitor, etc). Any suggestions on what I can use the remainder on?

Maybe some fancy wireless headsets with noise canceling?

Vodka.

But more seriously, think of contingencies. Maybe a UPS? WiFi booster? A portable spare monitor like the Lenovo ThinkVision M14 is great if you want to work outside and still have a second monitor (it works on USB-C power). Backup wireless mouse for when you lose the thingy.)

like

A good mic and webcam. Another monitor

Wireless headphones for the tv

Good webcam, printer/copier (I have a laser color one I love), comfortable chair, second monitor, better surge protector strip, high quality mouse…

I could make that $400 disappear real quick.

You can just send me a check for the amount. It will go to my "Fund for Kids Who Can't Read Good"

REITS: many still 25%+ lower than precovid and are still collecting 95% of rents. I really think the death of real estate/offices/retail is overblown. I see the weworks of the world taking the hit since those customers are now better equipped to work from home and gain nothing from a fake office with no colleagues around. I've seen mention of O and am thinking about adding. Anyone got some insights or thoughts?

If there is a case that we have to quarantine again. Do you all think it is possible for store associates to work remotely? If so, what are some ways this could work? 1) Have they started calling back people to office?
2) Once the office resumes do we have the flexibility to WFH if we like?

I'm trying to weigh the pros and cons of taking on a consulting gig that would be 7-10 hours a week, and about $22-25k a year, paid out on a monthly retainer.

Last Monday, I accepted a position at a company that had JUST had a vacancy. During the interview they even said what great timing it was that they came across my resume as they wouldn’t even need to post the job if I ended up being a good fit. After I accepted, they did end up posting the job…it’s been days now - should I question it with HR? I’m worried they’re going to find someone better and and tell me never mind. I was already feeling insecure and unqualified for the position…
