Hey people I wanna ask about how to switch to something related to data analytics ?

i have a master degree in accounting and financial audits .

How I can make the switch ? Certifications worth or not ? Or I need to study master degree in tech ?

I was previously an accountant in 2017 before moving to analytics. It depends on what you want to do. If you want to be more high-tech, like building ML models and coding, you may need to get a masters degree or join a Bootcamp unless you’re incredibly disciplined to self-study and that is hard to communicate to prospective employers.
If you want to do more analysis and dashboards then getting into a finance role could be easier. A lot of internal audit departments are using analytics and business intelligence so it could be a nice overlap

I’m an accountant also making the switch to Data Analytics, just enrolled in a Path stream certification ( will be learning SQL and tableau to start) but there are lots of free stuff out there in YouTube (search Alex the Analyst) and other sites like LinkedIn where people are posting about it. I plan on probably doing a masters in Data Science where I want to continue the coding learning. It’s very interesting and I feel I want to learn more.

I'm a former CPA who switched into analytics. Your accounting/business knowledge will actually be pretty helpful because you'll actually know what data is needed, how to transform it, why, and how to present it. Technical skills are great, but I can't tell you how many folks I've managed that are technically and quantitatively brilliant but lack any semblance of business sense or even basic skills like not using data that doesn't tie to a trial balance/financial statements.

For the technical skills piece, I'd say learn to write code to automate whatever you're already doing. This is what I did, and you'll frankly learn a lot more from doing this since a lot of the job will involve trying to figure out how to do something and then using Stack Overflow to fix it when you run into roadblocks (dead serious). Learn the basics of Python and the packages Pandas/Numpy. If you can do that, you'll be 80% of the way there. Plenty of free resources online.

I transitioned because I built projects from scratch and talked about how I applied them to client situations to save time, not because of credentials and whatnot.

First step would be to try to switch to advisory. Then you might be able to find a project with analytics. Thing is though, you will need to demonstrate some competency in the subject to get on the project. If you are at big four, I would take some Udemy/linkedin learning on analytics to get the conversation started.
