I think it's because men are seen as less nurturing or caring than black women. It's just always been generally like that regardless of race.
I have not found this to be true per se. I have also seen more men who are physicians. I think in general there are a lot of women in the nursing field and that has to do with a lot of things. Interesting point to consider though.
Yeah i think Nursing historically has been female dominated so it might be just that.
I think nursing is suggested more as a career option to females than males. I'm approaching 50, so maybe that has changed. I do see some male nurses, but they are usually caucasian. I'm sure it may be different in more heavily populated AA places like Atlanta.
I agree with the other posters. I don’t think that that is as prevalent in other areas than it is here.
I think more black women are educated in the field vs black men so naturally we would see more women.
