OP, my husband and I are based here. Very happy to meet you and your wife:)
Suggestions on how to make friends? Join any of the many local social/sports clubs that exist that align with your current interests. You like to run? There are running clubs. You like to play softball/volleyball, etc there are clubs for that, etc. Be social at these clubs, open to make connections, and join in after events that follow.
Also, don’t give of a creepy or overly desperate vibes. No one likes that and you are surely to be kept at arms length.
Enjoy what SD has to offer.
Not sure best way to make friends in SD it’s kind of hard no matter where you live, but definitely be social and not desperate.
We’re in early 30s but we have kids so mainly we just get naturally integrated into the “young families community” because of that
Lots of fun things to do in SD so there are social clubs for everything.
If you like sailing consider joining the Yacht Club in Point Loma - you don’t need a boat and they host tons of fun activities for members including joining on other peoples boats. Also any of the golf clubs or bay clubs…they offer lots of socials every month for varying age groups.
Enjoy the sun!
I moved into a building in Little Italy with a lot of young professionals that hosts some social events and many neighbors have become friends.
Join Vavi to play a sport, most teams go out for drinks after. Also meetup.com is a great way to meet ppl doing group activities!
You will probably find friends in the workplace. That's how it works for most people I know who relocate. Good luck
Gym, activities, outside stuff like hiking.
Moved here a few years ago, and it’s hard to make friends in your late 20s! I’ve met cool folks through book clubs, climbing gym, hobby-based brand/music events (I.e. Moniker, Roark, Sofar events), and breweries. Upside - people are super friendly here! Talk to strangers! LOL.
