Curious if there are any single parents that have more than 1 kid? Tempted to try for number 2 but being a single mom of more than 1 kid is scaring the $hit out of me.

How does everyone bill for family law matters? Do you always bill hourly or is there some flat fee, monthly or quarterly fee structure that could work, even in contested matters? I have cases that the clients end up spending $20-$40,000 on a contested divorce and this is really out of their budget. I feel that if my firm could charge a flat fee of $10-$15,000, it would still be beneficial from a client predictability and volume standpoint and would generate more referrals.

So I want to marry a physician (girl) as they make good money so I get a good life plus decent retirement. Is it selfish to marry someone for money???

I recently accepted a position with a new org. One of the benefits I asked about with offer was the parental leave policy and was told (in writing by HR) 16 weeks paid after 1 year, which is as good as you can hope for in US. Now I’ve been sent the employee handbook to review/sign and it says only 12 weeks, which is less than the org I’m leaving. What might my recourses be to negotiate 16 weeks when the time comes? Also, should I be viewing this is a red flag?

Really struggling with a few students in my kindergarten class this year and looking for suggestions. What are some good child care options for single parents? Have a toddler that is in preschool, but need to think about child care after school. Currently have my parents helping out with the child care, but they are not a long-term solution. Don’t know what my options are… especially when I have to travel in the future. Thinking about au pair as it seems like a cost effective solution, but wondering what other options are?
