I want to thank you for your post. We recently pushed our firm leadership to change the dress code policy to explicitly state that locs, twists, braids, afros, and other natural hairstyles are not only accepted, but welcomed, and now I want to ask that they add "for both women and men."
Your hairstyle is natural and professional. Keep it, and find a firm that appreciates you. Hit me up.
Love this!!
I did the exact same thing you mentioned during the pandemic. Twist my hair every two weeks and felt comfortable because I had a rapport at my current organization. I also interviewed with other shops over the last year and had mostly video interviews. Got a couple of offers regardless of the fact that all my interviews were conducted with my hair in twists. I sometimes tie them up at the back to give a bit more of a put together look when I’m approaching 2 weeks but that’s all I do.
short caesar cut that was “corporate” appropriate. I was wondering if any of the men can share their experience about working in public accounting/finance with longer hair and how you felt that was perceived, and whether or not that may have hindered your career progression?
