Hi can an experienced hire in McKinsey & Company provide some insight into how long it took to transfer a H1B visa ? My application status shows filing for the last one week and on asking a tentative timeline for filing I was told it has to complete mandatory review before filing…. I am just wondering how long it usually takes to actually file it.

I am current interviewing with Visa and they started the background check before the final round. The recruiter called me saying she’s already have an offer ready but I have to go through one final interview with the VP. However, he has been out of the office for the past two weeks. She mentioned they are not interviewing anyone else for the position, but I keep seeing the position being posted over and over again on LinkedIn. Any thoughts? I have other offers in the table.

After a hard reset on travel points (got none after Covid and change to industry) how would you start over? Which credit card is best for travel points? Airline? Starwood or Bonvoy? Avis or ??

At one time I had status on most airlines and hotels but I never bothered to focus on accumulating points since it seemed like they were infinite and I booked on convenience. Oh have times changed! I even let go of Amex platinum, just wasn’t worth it to me. Base airport LAX/SNA so no airline pref.

Has anyone recently gone through a renewal for an L1 visa in the USA through their work? Do you have to go to your home country for the interview? Looking for intel on current situation given covid travel restrictions. I’m from the UK. I’ve heard renewals are getting rejected if they’re processed in the USA versus the home country.

Thinking about dropping Amex plat. Don’t see the value of this card at $700 AF.

I’m a senior consultant, have delivered tens of projects at multiple clients, led workstreams, presented to client C-suite…Have done 2 McK final rounds and the interview the feedback is the same. Strong PEI, great quali/structure on the case, poor math- not so much about not understanding what math needs to be done, but actually doing the math. Honest question: why does McK continue to focus so much on the ability to do mental math, when in reality, we all have calculators + Excel?
