Hi 🐠 does the P2P program reimburse patients for fertility expenses that are not covered by insurance?

I’ve had to do my ERA tests and it’s a $900 expense out of pocket. My clinic will not bill these to insurance. Similarly there are cycle management fees, etc. that don’t get billed to insurance.

I would expect that they would. There is very little fertility-wise that it doesn’t cover. I recommend you go to the betteryou EY benefits website (something like betteryou.ey.net and click on the link that sounds fertility related (like “growing your family). There is an excellent pdf doc that explains exactly what it reimburses for. But to my knowledge, it doesn’t matter if an expense is covered by insurance, that’s what this fund is for!

Fertility treatments are expensive, and I want everyone to know that this program is excellent. I used it recently and it paid out the maximum to me without any problems. I went way over the maximum amount for fertility treatments and surrogacy. Don’t know what I would have done without it!

Update: essentially anything that is not covered by insurance is not covered under the P2P plan.

There is a limit to what will be reimbursed as there are a lot of things that can be added in that are not required for treatment. They will reimburse for donor sperm/egg purchased for IVF purposes. Believe they also reimburse fees for sperm/egg retrieval and preservation if medically necessary and recommended.

Always best to email the team at pathwaystoparenthood@ey.com for confirmation and details.

like

Yes, I emailed Pathways and they were immensely helpful.

My update was in relation to my original questions. I didn’t mean anything against EY benefits. I’m grateful to have this benefit to begin with. But if UHC or BCBS think PGTa tests or ERA tests are optional or not medically necessary after multiple failed transfers (which is laughable), the Pathways Program won’t be able to do much.

like

Edit: $1700+ expenses incl. some additional tests. The charges keep coming.

Very helpful, I appreciate it EY1 🙏

ERS and PGT-A are not covered.

You absolutely need to do the PGT-A - take it from someone who has gone through it.

Do we know if there is a sponsoring partner that oversees this benefit/ program that I could have more of a heart to heart conversation with? Not getting too far with the general email box and admin contact. From the benefit policy documentation, my understanding is that EY reimburses employees for surrogacy / adoption related expenses up to $50k lifetime. However, anything related to IVF or medical procedures has to go through insurance (also limited to $50k lifetime benefit). Continued
