Hi everyone, I have a question about the current job market, specially in finance. I am located in Los Angeles and have been unemployed for the past one and a half year. I apply to jobs on daily basis and get interviews to just get rejected. Is the job market really this bad or its just me and I am imagining a bad job market? And if it is so bad, then why do I have be grilled and down graded by recruiters and hiring managers about the gap and long term unemployment? 🥺

I have been job searching (currently unemployed) for 5 months now and am emotionally drained from doing on average 6-8 interviews a week now. Made it to the final rounds to a couple but ended up getting ghosted after or was not offered the job. Advice on how to stay positive? I’m not seeing the light at the end of the tunnel atm

I’m overworked and underpaid, but gaining valuable experience I hope to pivot toward an eventual in-house counsel position. I recently was offered an opportunity to lateral to a national firm for a significant pay increase (150% salary increase, much better benefits, hybrid WFH options). Anyone deal with this before: I inherited a severely under developed team including a sr analyst who clearly was doing the bare minimum, if that. Over the last 6 months I have had to coach him and correct simple mistakes in his work and recently it got so bad that I told him he would receive a low rating in his evaluation. He lashed out, involved HR saying he doesn’t understand why, and now my review points out stuff that I would have let slide.
