Is he MIS or Computer Science? If he’s either of those, they made give him a coding test. If he knows programming, he will be ok. The ones I’ve had give you definitions of tasks, like to declare a variable is “Dim variable”, etc. and then ask you to write out the code to create some variables and create a for/do loop. It’s typically all done on paper. It’s literally just to make sure someone understands the mechanics of programming. All the tests I’ve taken included loops, do he should make sure he understands those. For cases in general, he can Google case prep or ask his career fair for help, but in general they want to see logical, methodical, sound reasoning, people who are ok under pressure, and people who have decent estimation/judgement skills. It’s critical to “think out loud” during a case interview so the interviewer can understand your thought process. And briefly prepare a plan of attack before you begin speaking so you can be logical and decently organized. DM me if you’ve got any other questions - it’s been a bit since I graduated from MIS undergrad but I’ve been an IT university recruiter for years in addition to my day job. Good luck!!!

Thank you KPMG1. He’s Computer Science. I’ll DM, will have him digest the above. Thank you again.

Hello. I’m working on H1B and recently got a promotion. My company is amending my H1B and told me that since my new job is remote I can only work at my apartment (since it’s my legal location). Is there any chance they can figure out I’m working remotely from somewhere else? Also, I’m also in the process of applying for green card (thru employment). Does anyone know the timeline for this given my H1B is getting amended ? (My country has no waiting time).

Currently going through the interview process with a brand I love. I've interviewed with the CMO, completed a work task and presented it back to the team, and met with the CEO / founder. They've just come back to me saying that their creative agency has "offered to help with the process". This seems unusual especially given they're looking to bring all creative in house. First time I've ever heard of this happening - any theories as to why this is now a step in the process? Is it a red flag?

What is a typical time for an offer to be extended? Had one informal coffee, followed by a Zoom interview with four additional attorneys, and then an in-person interview with the practice head and the hiring partner (who was present at all of these). Talks went very well, and conversation ended with how they just needed to talk to the people responsible for next steps(finance). Last meeting was one week ago. Big firm. Not a posted position so I’m the only candidate. Am I am being impatient?

Hi Tech Fishes - I'm a presales solutions architect trying to pivot to the partner business side of large cloud service providers. Any books or articles you would recommend on how I could get up to speed relatively quickly? We are a family of 4- husband, myself and 2 boys. We flew to Miami and came back. Other than being in flight and at the airport where we double masked, we were all by ourselves avoiding crowded places. Once back, my son got a cold, cough and slight fever too. We went to urgent care and they took a covid test, awaiting results. Now I’m super anxious and scared and feel stupid for exposing my kids. Anyone else in the same position ? Looking for positive vibes.

I work full time in a (foreign) country where employees are protected pretty well. Our agency lost clients and they need to lay people off. I’m on that list too. They are convincing us to accept a voluntary resignation with 5 months of salary. I can refuse (law will protect me) and stay on but I have barely any billable work to do and of course this will create some toxic relationships with management. (CONT)

For those of you who spent a long time in big law (at least 10 years but more along the lines of 15+), when did you know it was time to do something else (maybe in the law, maybe not)? I don’t know if it’s wfh or just the work now, but I’m finding myself getting amazingly frustrated at things that barely bothered me before. I had an argument with opposing counsel last week and was seeing red for hours after that, and little things seem to bother me much much more than they would have before
