Hi folks, about to leave EY and wondering what’s the best course of action for my 401k. Leave it with Fidelity, rollover to Vanguard IRA (have my prior rollover already there in a target retirement fund), rollover to next employer 401k? My initial thought is to move to Vanguard for ease of maintaining both rollovers in one single place. Should I consider anything else while deciding?

Is it traditional or Roth? If Roth just move it to an Ira. If traditional and you plan to need backdoor Roth IRA in the future do not move it to an Ira. Moving it to new 401k is easy option fo you want

like

I’ll probably need to do some research on Roth. Don’t think I know enough about bak door

I really like the New horizon fund....so maybe leave a portion there...

Move it to IRA so that you have more control over it. Doesn't matter which one. Lots of flexibility with an IRA

like

THANK YOU both for this conversation. I have a better understanding now.

Move to personal IRA and don't overthink it. You will have access to more funds and better control on how to manage it.

like

IRAs can be more flexible. I have mine in M1 Finance.

The EY 401k options are lousy. I rolled mine to new employer (both fidelity)

Vanguard target date funds are a smart move. Very low cost and no work required to rebalance. I set up an auto invest into them which is a feature I didn't know they had for free until recently
