Absolutely ask them if it’s something you found on LinkedIn. Signals interest and preparation, and it’s clearly publicly available.
It went well! We had a great connection and conversation, but it’ll be tough because they’re looking for an experienced senior, whereas I’m just an S1 (just got promoted). I’m hoping and praying for the best - thank you!
Weird or not, I've done this almost every time and no one seems to be bothered by it so far lol
Same here! It’s always been a positive reaction; thank you!
Yes. People like talking about themselves. The interviewer will feel good and be more likely to have a good view of you.
She definitely did! Thank you so much!
^lol was going to say the exact same thing. People 100% love to talk about themselves and their story. Good way to kill a little time in an interview
Thank you so much! She really appreciated it and it led to a bunch of other great stories as well.

Yes, part of responsible interviewing is doing your research, ie linkedin creeping, and coming prepared with questions.
Definitely agree; thank you very much!
If I were interviewing you, I would be happy to answer that question and any other question you have.
Thank you so much! I hope we get the opportunity to do so one day haha.
I would def ask both questions: What made you leave? What made you come back?
I asked both and she was super honest and I really appreciated her doing so. Thank you so much!
A question I get asked fairly often when I interview candidates is “what has made you stay with EY all these years”, so you could always use that to steer to the topic if you don’t want to give away your LinkedIn stalking
I asked a question similar to that and it really lit up a great conversation! Thank you so much!
I wouldn’t ask them why specifically, but I’d pose the question asking them what they like or don’t like about ey or their role
Thank you! I initially thought the same and wanted to play it safe, but I see why others feel the opposite as well.
I think it’s fine to ask - it’s a genuine question and shows you’ve done some research.
Could also tell you something about the firm that may be crucial to deciding your next move.
I never thought about it that way and I definitely kept that in mind for the interview. Thank you so much!
See how the interview goes - if there is good rapport and it feels comfortable, then go ahead and ask in a nice way - we have a number of boomerangs at EY, as people like their teams and the firm, and sometimes they find it's not the same everywhere.
Absolutely! Her and I had a nice connection so I brought it up. Thank you so much!
I’ve done this in all my interviews. If you get someone talking about themselves chances are they’ll never get to the hard questions and think it was great interview.
I tried that and I think it worked haha! Thank you so much!
Update lol: I used all your tips and tricks and brought it up to her. She really appreciated it and I could tell she was impressed by the research. I haven’t gotten a word back yet, but I’m really thankful to you all for your advice and guidance. :)
