Hi, I'm going to be a new grad and got offers from IBM consulting and Publicis Sapient for Product Manager. PS has a higher salary and better benefits, but IBM is a more prestigious company, I was wondering what are the deciding factors when it comes to choosing a new career

What was your offer at PS?

It would all depend on what you want in the future. Also, it depends on what the difference in salary is. If your goal is to retire earlier and want to start investing aggressive, go for the higher offer. Also, see which one will open more doors. An average employee stays in a job for 2-3 years, so look beyond the job and future opportunities.

As someone that worked at IBM and PS. I recommend IBM. Better brand and learning experience. Really depends on your practice and work you’re looking to do long term. If you want to be a PM, then go with PS because having the PM title is everything to stay in that game. If you go IBM Consulting route, you will have broader openings. Think MBA vs a Masters in Analytics

Agency side usually pays lower so I’m surprised. In my field it’s that way so if I had opportunity to be on brand side I’d take it. For me much harder to be on brand side than agency side. If you want to work on just 1 brand long term stick with IBM. But if you want to work on multiple brands and stay with same agency or switch agencies, go agency route.

Product manager and consultant are different trajectories - what practice would you be in at IBM? This is a tough question to answer - what are your long term career aspirations?

I will say this: product management is a really hot space right now - top MBA students are looking at FAANG product management jobs the way they used to look at IB jobs.

If you think you'd like to be a product manager long-term, the direct experience and title you'd get now would make you more competitive than a Wharton MBA student with no tech or PM background. PM jobs at FAANG can pay 300, 400, 500k with RSUs, it's a very lucrative career.

That being said, PM can be a tough job - you have no real power, and much of your day will be spent trying to convince people to do things. You can't force developers to do anything. If that sounds like a bad time, I'd go with IBM. The same 300/400/500 Como can be had at partner level, though it take you a bit longer to get there vs staying just a few years at publicis and making the jump to FAANG.

I just got an offer at McKinsey and I was wondering if the base pay is the same across all first year BAs or if there is typically room for negotiation this early in the career. What other questions do I need to be asking?

I had interviewed for an internship position at EY for technology consultant program for summer 2022 and got a call where they extended an offer. I wanted to know if I can defer the internship offer to fall 2022 or a later start date after summer.
I apologize as I cannot reply to a comment or DM on this platform to anyone, but thanks for your answers in advance.

Just got a job offer but they are only giving me until Monday afternoon to decide. I'm currently in process at several other firms and the recruiter said they can't/won't give extensions. How bad is it for me to accept and then decline if I get another offer? The other companies would be paying 15-30k more and I feel like that's way too much to give up especially right out of school. I emailed the other companies I'm interviewing with to see if the process could be expedited and (1/2)
