Wanted to warn yall about freelancing for Benefit Cosmetics based out of San Francisco. They have a super toxic culture and a known history of throwing freelancers under the bus. Berating and verbally abusing employees is common practice there, and they have no structure for supporting creatives. I developed stress hives and completley lost my appetite working here. Please protect yourself from this company!

I am fed up of my people lead/supervisor
Gives unrealistic deadlines, has no time for discussion and next day he is up with his nagging behaviour

Doesnt even know how to talk in a certain professional manner, fed up with his nagging behaviour.

And yeah forgets everything! Need to remind him each and everytime about the tasks and boom, then he comes up with his negative demotivating statements!

Anyone else’s love life so DRY that you find yourself having a crush on an older man at work who is in senior leadership? I keep it professional, but I feel like I’m doing something so bad by having this crush.

Have you ever felt like teammates can tell you’re introverted and overstimulated by something and purposefully set those circumstances up so they can appear to shine socially in comparison to you?

Any thoughts on how do we deal with an incompetent boss who you dont look up to and have no trust that you would ever get credit for the work you would do for him/her? Given that changing the boss is not an option.

I'm an introverted person, like to keep to myself, focus on work, spend the rest of my time on family, gym etc. I've been told that I need to work on my communication and client relationship building skills. any books I can read? I don't follow pop. culture anymore, no longer actively follow team sports (but sporty myself) as I consider it bread and circus for the masses and don't rly enjoy work drinks... Am I doomed? I’d list the last agency that didn’t pay me but they actually closed up shortly after. Sadly the content I wrote is on their client’s site - but it’s not the client’s fault the agency didn’t pay me.

Anyone every have an issue with an agency paying you an hourly, and not being upfront about the hours prospected per day... until your last day, and then have an issue when the invoice is sent in?

Watch out for Publicis—specifically Digitas. After a few weeks there, and a couple of quiet days (client is taking their time w/comments, etc) I was told that even though I was booked for that short week, I was only going to get paid for time actually worked—the 3 daily status meetings. Yes, that’s correct. 24 hours waiting patiently for the client comments and they’re paying me for 3 hours.
